We’re sorry that we are so late with writing about these late June/early July deaths. Michael Jackson’s death has taken over media in a way that has led to other celebrity deaths being pushed aside to cover his. It’s too bad ’cause a lot of them were very popular in their day and they will all be missed.  There have been a lot of sad deaths recently, so we’ve decided to focus this post on the four who most relate to the topic of this website, which is television.

6/27 – Gale Storm died from natural causes at the age of 87. Her fame started with the radio show Gateway to Hollywood in 1940. Gale later became a major TV star and even got her own TV series called The Gale Storm Show.

6/28 – Billy Mays died of unknown causes at the age of 50. He was a professional pitchman, most recently advertising OxiClean. Billy was the star of Discovery Channel’s new show “Pitchmen”. The show is set to continue without him in a way that honors Mays’ memory.

6/30 – Harve Presnell died after a battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 75. He appeared in numerous TV shows, including Dawson’s Creek and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (where he played Lois’ dad). In 1965 Presnell won a Golden Globe for Most Promising Male Newcomer. Through the years he’s also had a role in many famous movies, such as Fargo, Face/Off, Mr. Deeds, Saving Private Ryan, Flags of Our Fathers and Evan Almighty.

7/1 – Mollie Sugden died from natural causes at the age of 86. She was mostly known for her role on the long-running British TV classic Are You Being Served?.

More recent deaths: Beverly Roberts, Brenda Joyce, Karl Malden, Anna K. Morrow
