Director of Psychiatric Services Dr. Jack Gallagher and psychiatrist Dr. Veronica Hayden-Jones are called to the ER for a psych consult where they meet Melissa Ranier (guest star Nicholle Tom), a woman presenting as seven months pregnant. However, the doctors are informed by the ER physician that the patient’s ultrasound did not reveal a baby. When the woman’s husband (and OB/GYN) arrives, they find he, too, is under the delusion that his wife is pregnant. Jack must take drastic measures to get to the bottom of the case and help bring the couple back to reality. Meanwhile, Jack searches for his mentally ill sister, Becky, whom he believes is homeless and wandering the streets of Los Angeles in the “A Beautiful Delusion” episode of MENTAL airing Tuesday, June 2 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

In the opening scene I laughed a little bit. I like how none of the four psychologists walking down the corridor can see that they don’t really dislike the pretty pictures been put on the walls but actually dislike the changes being made by the threatening new boss, in other words they really dislike him. Good job guys! And then when he forces them down to the lawn for a three-legged race with the patients… ha ha ha! The looks on those faces are precious!
Okay I don’t even know how to begin to comment on the pregnancy. I honestly did not have any idea this could happen. It is sooo scary and weird and crazy. Is it make believe, fiction? Surely this can’t happen in real life? Right? If a woman can fake a pregnancy with all the physical pain, cravings, peeing every 10 seconds and then the belly! What are we then capable of doing to our bodies with our mind? This is where I need to go: I’ll see it when I believe it. So I googled it.

Drama with the boring woman employee, she isn’t boring at all! Office romance, uh la la, cheating on the jazz musician with an ER doctor. Naughty, naughty girl! Cute moment at the end of the episode when they decide to have children. She and the jazz musician then, not her and the ER doctor, that would perhaps make her a patient instead of a doctor in the three-legged race.
